- My first Sufi camp was at the Abode in 1998. I met Firdousi in Columbus that same year. My first Ozark camp was fall 2001. Since then it has felt like home to me. The midwest open-hearted hospitality draws me back again & again.
I retired from the ODOT in 2006, and may soon relocate to someplace warmer than northeast Ohio. I recently connected with a Sufi circle here in town, but most of my dearest brothers & sisters are part of the Columbus circle.
I help lead Dances on occasion, and I almost never miss the Dance camp in Ithaca, NY each June. I've been back to the Abode for camp 3 or 4 times since 1998, and been to Mendocino once.

Spring camp in hindsight
My experience this year was different than any before; I dropped all baggage at the airport & drove to camp with an open heart, and lots of desire to experience whatever might happen. I found myself activating my "observer self" - not the detached judge of persons & events, but the One within who watches for sparks of the One around me.
